Well I have lost my job. I was fired after three years of working there and in all honesty I am more upset that I didn't get a chance to tell them to fuck themselves. I took my dismissal as a nod and smile focal point
I have been working in the basement of the red lion hotel for three years as a Xerox employee and I will say to anyone NEVER WORK FOR THEM!
Not only do they lie to you about your pay , they lie about the "flexible" schedule and how the care about you and not the numbers. As soon as you are hired you are not a human being you are that rower in the bottom of the ship and if you say or mention anything that would make you different or stand out you have painted a target on your back.
When I was hired I was told that I can earn up to 16 an hour. You can as long as you sell your soul. I know people there that were able to do it and they are really good at their job. I told the woman that hired me that I don't kiss ass to get what I want and I won't start now.
When you go into training you are given a trainer. The trainer youwould think would be there to teach you something about what are to do. She fought us how to do basic things about the properties but nothing about our actual job other than this is how you make a reservation and this is how you cancel and this is how you lie to that you can't get them to the front desk. I learned everything I knew by trail and error and the experienced people around me. I also learned that I was hired after the golden age and thrown into the corporate out sourcing. The call center used to be part of red lion and now was a part of acs. Which meant that once again in my call center career I was not working for the place my desk was. People came and went all with the same reason to leave they hated ABC pay grade.
For three years I had to put up with assholes on the phone. They didn't understand what I meant by "the hotel is booked", I am sorry the concert you want is sold out, and it is passed the point of cancellation. I have been called a bitch, idiot, stupid, and anything that you would think a human being would like to avoid. I have encountered perverts, robot voices, teenagers trying to get a room after the prom to have a "friendly" party, husbands and mistresses and losers that are too drunk to know where their card is. Not mention the one joke that always comes up "can we use your card to pay for the room?". I also had endure the not so intellegent moments with help desk..... if I wanted to spend time talking to idiots I will go to a republican convention.
There was one mentioned when someone asked me what it was like working there and I told them the truth. This truth got me written up. I told them that it will be your fault if something is sold out or booked and you have to have a thick skin to work there. Getting the top grade of pay is hard and you can not trust anyone. The trainer now known as "the troll" to many of us heard what I said and I got written up. I told them that if a lot of people were thinking like this then it needs to be addressed but no. I was the lamb but I did not apologize. No one backed me up and everyone was telling g me what I was right but no one was saying anything.
Vegas. You would think that Las Vegas would be something that I would want to talk about but I don't and I would not recommend anyone to stay at the Las Vegas hotel. We were given this email in the middle of the day that we have to start talking about this new partner hotel in Vegas. We were given no info and only 24 hours to adapt or it is going to be one point off our Qa. It was already hard enough to be a 100 now we had to do this bull shit. We looked it up online and there was nothing good about this hotel and there was nothing awesome about it. That was the start. They policy about the hotel and the info was always changing. There was nothing stable or current about it. Then they promoted a stupid person as a floor lead. Someone that was known to make mistakes. Then the system would not go fast enough to have a the average call time. We would be getting in trouble for not taking calls because the system would be going slow. Then gap coverage and the at home agents rules changed, then the Qa grades went up and then I was fired.
The ABC pay scale does not work for a small call center it is meant for something that needs numbers. This place needs to be customer service only. Let them do their jobs and stop trying to make it a sales department when there is nothing to sell. Hotels book up and concerts get sold out. This place needs to go back to basics.
